This fortnight we find out about how the Fox Glacier, how it works and it modern history. Ice Climbing is a great way to challenge yourself and learn some new skills. We pay the villages automotive team a visit and to finish of the day we find that the Fox Glacier Holiday Park have a great range of accommodation options.
We head up the Franz Josef Glacier Valley to do the morning. Then is it off to discover “kiwi mild” through to “I want a sweaty adrenalin rush... HOT!” at the Priya Indian Restaurant. We visit the new team at Skydive Franz and finally put our feet up at the Franz Josef Glacier Country Retreat for the evening.
In this edition we set out to explore the stories of the three Minnehaha's and take a wander amongst Fox Glacier villages glow work Fairland. Bill and Jill welcome us to their new central village Bella Vista Motel then it is off to find out what services Fox & Franz heliservices do provide to make the most of the backcountry. To finish off the day we relax and dine team at the Plateau Cafe & Bar.
In this visit to our Franz Josef Glacier members we catch up with the team at the Beeches, Restaurant, Cafe & Bar. We also find out what it takes for Franz Josef Top Ten Holiday Park to be Qualmark rated 5 star holiday park. To top it off we go to find some mud with Sam on his popular Beaumont Buggy's.
In this member update we head to the magical area south of the mighty Fox Glacier. After a 18km walk to Welcome Flat Hut we take a soak in the Copland Hot Pools. It is then time to head out to try out some hunting and fishing around lake Paringa and catch up with Ken and Mata for a yarn at Lake Paringa Lodge. We also find out what it feels like to be well fed and made feel at home at Brenda and Graham's South West Salmon Farm and Cafe. A must do is to stop the night at John and Jacquis Mahitahi Lodge. From John we learn about the secrets of the area to be found just off the highway in this very special part of South Westland.
