While up to six metres of rain falls annually in the Fox Glacier Valley, only two metres will fall at Gillespies Beach, Lake Mapourika, and at Okarito. That is less than the annual rainfall in Christchurch! So you might want to step out of the rain shadow and head to the beach to explore our rugged coastline or go on a lakeside adventure.
